So, you never told me, how was Christmas with the folks?

They asked about you. Told me to remind you that you're welcome to come back with me for a visit any time.

[ It makes him laugh a little, and he glances towards him with a smile. ]

[ He sighs as they hit traffic. ]

I knew we should have left earlier. It's gonna be dark and it'll be the middle of the night by the time we get there. You sure we can get the keys late?

Yeah, I think so. Pretty sure there's just some sort of after hours charge. [But he's starting to get worried about all of this as well.]

The turn's coming up, isn't it?

You've got the phone numbers right? The people we need to call when we get there? I dunno why i agreed to do a cottage in the middle of nowhere for New Years. Must be fucking mad.

[ It had of course been as much his idea. ]

Yeah yeah just here mate. [ And he turns, heading out of the city and towards the north. ]

Because if we stayed home they were going to make you work it. And you deserve a night off.

[Even though he knows that the cottage is in the middle of nowhere, turning away from the city as it gets later just makes him a little nervous. They definitely should have left earlier.]

I know I should have forked out for an earlier flight back. [ But no, he needed the cheap later one that got back to a stupid far away airport. Stupid money. ]
